SUNDAY STAYCATION
If, like me, you need to spend wisely due to the rising cost of living, you may not be able to afford to travel away for the weekend as often as you’d like to. Well recently I came up with a solution for this: I’ve made my Sundays a day of ‘staycation’ where I practice self care throughout the day. For me, this means I can stay in my pajamas, slippers and bathrobe, eat breakfast in bed, apply a soothing lavender infused face mask and simply do nothing - except relax on my sofa binge-watching my latest favourite Netflix series (a solo Netflix and chill session). On Saturday to prepare, I tidy my apartment so it’s immaculately clean, buy fresh flowers from the markets, put fresh sheets on my bed (who doesn’t love the feeling of climbing into a freshly made bed?!) and stock up on treats like popcorn, winter-warming soup, vanilla scented candles and the latest copy of Vogue. For me, self care is one of the ways I reward myself for all of the hard work I’ve done in overcoming my mental health and irritable bowel syndrome challenges, and it’s also a way to express self love and cherish the healthy, happy body and mind that I now have.
So - over to you - how do you practice self care on a Sunday? Have you ever had your own version of a staycation?
